On the Viking AI Search platform, an **Application** is the core vehicle for experiencing and utilizing search functions. You must first create an application and associate it with **1 to 3 item datasets of the same dataset type**. These datasets serve as the source of search content and must undergo index configuration and building processes before they can be effectively retrieved. This serves as the foundation for all subsequent data and experience configurations. 1. In the console, navigate to the **Application Management** page. 2. Click **Create Application** and enter the application name. You can choose to link an existing dataset or create a new one. # Create an Item Dataset within an Application You can choose to create an item dataset directly within the application. For applications not yet linked with any item dataset, you can select the create option under the Item Dataset tab. 1. In the **Application Management \> Data Configuration**, go to the **Item Dataset** tab and click **Create Dataset**. 2. The system will automatically identify and pre\-fill field meanings, attributes, and search strategies (e.g., searchable, filterable, applicable for autocomplete, or applicable for image\-to\-image search) based on the uploaded sample data. If you wish to adjust these settings based on specific requirements, you can review and refine them to ensure the search functionality aligns with your business goals. Once the item dataset is created, it will be automatically linked with the current application. # Link Existing Item Datasets to an Application Linking datasets is fundamental to defining the application's search scope, performing index configuration, and ultimately enabling search functionality. Each application supports linking **1–3 item datasets of the same type**. 1. Select one item dataset of the same type. Click **"Next: Configure Fields"** to configure the meaning of the data. 4. The system has automatically identified and pre\-filled **field meanings, field meanings, field attributes,** and field search strategies (such as whether it is **searchable**, **filterable**, **usable for search completion and image search**) based on the uploaded data. Once the indexing is complete, your application is ready for basic search. # Unlink an Item Dataset If you need to change the data source for an application or delete an item dataset currently in use, you must first unlink it. 1. In **Application Management \> Data Configuration**, go to the **Item Dataset** tab. 2. Locate the dataset you wish to unlink and click the **Unlink** button below the dataset description. # Import item data After creating the dataset, you can import more data or update field values using the following methods: * **Import JSONL file via console: ** Best for small\-scale test data.
