Pay-As-You-Go, also known as postpaid, is a payment method where you use resources first and pay later. This allows for more flexible activation and deactivation of Volcano Engine E-MapReduce (EMR) clusters.

Limits #

• Your Volcano Engine account must first complete Preparation before you can purchase EMR.
• Before purchasing, ensure that your account balance (that is, cash balance) is greater than or equal to 0 yuan, and the total amount of the balance plus vouchers must not be less than RMB 100.00.

Billing rules #

• The Pay-As-You-Go price is 0.05 yuan/core/hour in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou regions, and 0.08 yuan/core/hour in Johor and Hong Kong regions.
• The initial billing time for Pay-As-You-Go is the time when the EMR cluster creation order is successfully submitted. Billing is calculated by the second, and invoices are sent hourly.
• The Pay-As-You-Go amount for a cluster = unit price * total number of cores in the cluster * usage time. If the cluster is expanded during operation, only the fees for the newly added nodes during their operation period are charged.

For example: If you use an EMR cluster in the Beijing region for 30 minutes between 10:00 and 11:00, and the EMR cluster includes 32 cores (that is, vCPU), the service fee generated by EMR is: 32 cores * 0.5 hours * 0.05 yuan/core/hour = 0.8 yuan. You will receive the invoice for this billing cycle at 11:00.

Settlement cycle #

Pay-As-You-Go billing is based on the cluster's usage duration, with seconds as the billing unit. The EMR service settles fees at the top of every hour (based on UTC+8 time). At the same time, the next settlement cycle begins. If the available balance in your account (including account balance and vouchers) is less than the invoice to be settled, you will receive a notification of insufficient balance via SMS or email.
