在HelpnDoc中为CHM项目添加自定义CSS的问题
Fixing Custom CSS Not Working in HelpnDoc CHM Builds
I’ve run into this exact snag with HelpnDoc before—CHM builds tend to rely on locked-down internal styles, but there’s a solid workaround using template customization:
Step 1: Export the Default CHM Template
HelpnDoc hides its built-in hnd.css in program resources, but you can extract it by exporting the default template:
- Open HelpnDoc and navigate to Tools → Template Manager
- Select the default CHM template (typically labeled "Default CHM Template")
- Click Export and save the template files to a local folder you can easily access
- Inside this exported folder, you’ll finally see the
hnd.cssfile you couldn’t locate earlier
Step 2: Add Your Custom CSS to the Template Stylesheet
- Open the exported
hnd.cssin a text editor (like Notepad++ or VS Code) - Scroll to the bottom of the file and paste your custom rule:
.rvps18 {padding-bottom: 20px;} - Save the modified
hnd.cssfile
Step 3: Import and Use the Custom Template
- Return to HelpnDoc’s Template Manager and click Import
- Select the folder containing your modified template files
- Give your new template a clear name (e.g., "Custom CHM with Note Padding")
- Go to your project’s Publish → CHM settings
- From the Template dropdown, choose your newly imported custom template
- Rebuild your CHM file
Bonus: Clear CHM Cache to Avoid Stale Styles
Windows often caches CHM content, so make sure to:
- Close any open instances of your CHM file
- Rebuild the CHM from scratch
- Open the newly generated file to confirm your styles are active
This works because exporting the template pulls all internal resources (including hnd.css) into an editable format. Using the custom template tells HelpnDoc to use your modified stylesheet during compilation, instead of the locked-down built-in version.
