Hey folks,
I thought I was somewhat good at maths but this problem has defeated me. I'm now starting to wonder if what I'm trying to do is even geometrically possible, and I don't know how to work it out.
I'm trying to modify a crochet pattern for a 3D curled horn to make a mirrored version (counterclockwise curl), but with a key restriction: the underlying spiral (the way the rows are arranged) has to stay a clockwise spiral. Switching to a counterclockwise spiral would mean working left-handed or inside-out, and neither is realistic for this pattern.
The original pattern creates a clockwise-curled horn, built as a clockwise spiral starting from the tip and ending at the base. The "rows" (spiral segments) fall into two types:
- Row Type 1: Same stitch count as the previous row, with varying height along its length—first part uses taller stitches, second part uses shorter ones, with the taller section always being longer.
- Row Type 2: Longer stitch count than the previous row, with increases added at 3 equidistant points along the row. This row has uniform height throughout.
For anyone unfamiliar with crochet shorthand:
sc: Single crochet, the standard square "pixel" stitchhdc: Half double crochet, a taller vertical rectangular stitch (same width as sc)sl: Slip stitch, a shorter horizontal rectangular stitch (same width as sc)- Rounds with
2 sc in the nxt stare increase rounds, adding one stitch per increase (placing 2 stitches on top of 1 from the previous round)

Is it geometrically possible to flip the curl direction to counterclockwise while keeping the spiral itself moving clockwise? If yes, how would I adjust the stitch patterns (swap the tall/short stitch sections? Reverse where the increases are placed?) to make this happen?
