如何配置zsh/bash提示符以显示最近三级目录(附示例)
Let's walk through setting up your desired prompt behavior for both shells. The goal is to show a truncated path when you're deeper than 3 directories, and the full path otherwise.
Zsh Configuration
Zsh has powerful parameter expansion tools that make this easy to implement with a custom function.
Add the path truncation function
Open your~/.zshrcfile and paste this function:truncated_path() { # Split the current directory into an array using '/' as the separator local parts=(${s:/:PWD}) # Calculate the number of directory levels (subtract 1 to skip the leading empty element from root) local num_levels=$(( ${#parts} - 1 )) if (( num_levels > 3 )); then # Join the last 3 directory segments and prepend '../' echo "../${(j:/:)parts[-3,-1]}" else # Show the full path if we're 3 levels or fewer echo "$PWD" fi }Set your prompt
Right after the function, add this line to define your prompt:PS1='%$(truncated_path)> 'The
%$()syntax tells Zsh to run the function every time it renders the prompt, so it always reflects your current directory.Apply the changes
Either restart your Zsh shell or run this command to load the new config immediately:source ~/.zshrc
Bash Configuration
Bash doesn't have Zsh's advanced array handling, but we can use awk to achieve the same result.
Add the path truncation function
Open your~/.bashrcor~/.bash_profilefile and paste this function:truncated_path() { # Handle the root directory explicitly to avoid odd behavior if [ "$PWD" = "/" ]; then echo "/" return fi # Count how many directory segments we have (split by '/') local num_segments=$(echo "$PWD" | awk -F/ '{print NF}') if (( num_segments > 4 )); then # Grab the last 3 segments and prepend '../' echo "$PWD" | awk -F/ '{print "../" $(NF-2) "/" $(NF-1) "/" $NF}' else # Show the full path for 3 levels or fewer echo "$PWD" fi }Set your prompt
Add this line after the function to update your prompt:PS1='$(truncated_path)> 'Bash evaluates command substitutions in
PS1every time it shows the prompt, so your path will update automatically as you navigate.Apply the changes
Restart your Bash shell or run this command to load the config right away:source ~/.bashrc
Example Behavior
- In
/home/user/projects/myapp/src(5 levels), prompt shows:../projects/myapp/src> - In
/home/user/projects(3 levels), prompt shows:/home/user/projects> - In
/home(1 level), prompt shows:/home> - In
/(root), prompt shows:/>
