Ubuntu DHCP客户端使用ID而非MAC地址导致静态租赁失效,配置dhclient.conf无效求助
Hey folks, let me vent about the frustrating issue I’m stuck with right now:
I’ve been trying to ditch manually managing static IPs for our servers and switch to DHCP static lease assignments instead. But here’s the problem—Ubuntu changed how its DHCP client identifies itself, moving away from using MAC addresses to some other DHCP ID. Every time there’s a major OS change (like a big system update or significant config overhaul), the client grabs a fresh DHCP lease, which makes all my pre-set static leases completely useless. This has been happening consistently across Ubuntu versions from 18.04 all the way up to 23.04.
I did some googling and found suggestions to add send dhcp-client-identifier = hardware; to /etc/dhcp/dhclient.conf, but that fix didn’t work for me at all.
What’s really confusing is that Windows and Mac machines still use their MAC addresses for DHCP identification without any hiccups. I can’t wrap my head around why Ubuntu would change this mechanism, especially for the server distribution where consistent static IPs are so critical.
