I've built a Spring MVC application that interacts with a MySQL database. It worked flawlessly (100% functional) during local testing, but after deploying it to a managed hosting service, I'm hitting frequent intermittent issues. I'm trying to narrow down whether this is a code-related problem or an issue with the hosting provider.

The app runs smoothly at times, but randomly throws HTTP Status 500 Internal Server Error. This inconsistency makes me suspect the hosting service might be the culprit, but I need to confirm.

Unfortunately, the full error logs are saved as a PDF which I can't upload, but the core error messages are:

com.mysql.jdbc.exceptions.jdbc4.CommunicationsException: communications link failure

Additionally, the bottom of the 500 error page shows this:

java.io.EOFException: Can not read response from server. Expected to read 4 bytes, read 0 bytes before connection was unexpectedly lost

Here are key details about my setup:

• I'm using an independent Tomcat server provided by the hosting platform
• The application uses a connection pool to connect to the MySQL database

I'm stuck trying to diagnose the root cause here. Any help or guidance would be really appreciated!
