I know similar questions have been asked before, but I wanted to lay out my specific situation here before making any major changes to my projects. I'm stuck with this error every time I try to build:
Error:Execution failed for task ':processDebugResources'. > Failed to execute aapt
I’ve tried every fix I could dig up online—none of them have resolved the issue. What’s more frustrating is that this exact same error pops up when I run three other separate projects, all of which target API 27. I’m really at a loss here and would appreciate any guidance you can offer.
My build.gradle Configurations

Solutions I’ve Already Tested
- Cleared build cache and ran a clean rebuild
- Updated Android Studio and all SDK components to versions compatible with API 27
- Checked for invalid characters in resource filenames (drawables, strings, layouts, etc.)
- Verified all dependencies use versions that support API 27
- Invalidated caches and restarted Android Studio
- Reinstalled the API 27 SDK resources to rule out corruption
