寻求带圆角的现代GTK3主题及Ubuntu移除Ambiance底部圆角原因

Why the Bottom Rounded Corners Disappeared #

From what I’ve gathered working with Ubuntu’s desktop design ecosystem over the years, there are a few core reasons the bottom rounded corners were phased out of the Ambiance theme:

• Performance Optimization: As GTK3 evolved, rendering rounded corners (especially on window bottoms) added consistent overhead during resizing, moving, or redrawing windows. Ubuntu prioritized smooth performance across a wide range of hardware—from low-end laptops to desktops—so simplifying the theme’s geometry helped cut down on unnecessary rendering work.
• Design Language Shift: After Ubuntu 10.04, the desktop moved toward flatter, more minimal aesthetics—first with Unity, then later with the shift to GNOME Shell. The bottom rounded corners felt out of step with this streamlined, uniform design direction, which aimed for cleaner window edges that blended better with modern shell elements.
• Window Manager Compatibility: As Ubuntu adopted Wayland alongside Xorg, maintaining custom rounded corner logic introduced compatibility quirks. Simplifying the theme’s shape reduced the need for theme-specific hacks to work with new window management systems.

Modern GTK3 Themes with Bottom Rounded Corners #

If you’re hunting for themes that bring back that classic (or macOS-like) bottom rounded corner look, here are some solid options:

• Ambiance-Round: A modernized fork of the original Ambiance theme, built specifically to retain the bottom rounded corners while fixing compatibility with GTK3 and recent desktop environments. It stays true to the warm, familiar Ubuntu 10.04 aesthetic.
• WhiteSur GTK Theme: A popular macOS-inspired theme that features full-window rounded corners (including the bottom). It’s polished, modern, and works seamlessly with most GTK3 apps and GNOME Shell extensions.
• Arc-Round: A modified version of the widely loved Arc Theme, adding bottom rounded corners to its sleek, flat design. It balances modern minimalism with the rounded edge detail you’re looking for.
• Orchis Theme: A highly customizable theme that lets you toggle bottom rounded corners (along with other visual tweaks) via a dedicated settings tool. You can mix and match to get a modern look with your preferred rounded edge style.
