iOS 11未装Twitter应用时TwitterKit发推功能失效求助

TwitterKit Web Login Not Triggered When Twitter App is Not Installed

Problem Description

I followed Twitter's official docs to implement session checking and tweet composing with TWTRComposer. Here's my code:

// Check if current session has users logged in
if ([[Twitter sharedInstance].sessionStore hasLoggedInUsers]) {
    TWTRComposerViewController *composer = [TWTRComposerViewController emptyComposer];
    [fromController presentViewController:composer animated:YES completion:nil];
} else {
    [[Twitter sharedInstance] logInWithCompletion:^(TWTRSession *session, NSError *error) {
        if (session) {
            TWTRComposerViewController *composer = [TWTRComposerViewController emptyComposer];
            [fromController presentViewController:composer animated:YES completion:nil];
        } else {
            UIAlertController *alert = [UIAlertController alertControllerWithTitle:@"No Twitter Accounts Available" message:@"You must log in before presenting a composer." preferredStyle:UIAlertControllerStyleAlert];
            [self presentViewController:alert animated:YES completion:nil];
        }
    }];
}

The issue is: when the device doesn't have the Twitter app installed, the flow enters the else branch and shows the alert instead of launching the WebView to guide the user to log in as expected. I need technical support to fix this.

Solutions to Fix Web Login Flow

Let's troubleshoot this step by step:

  1. Verify Twitter Initialization in AppDelegate
    Make sure you've correctly initialized the Twitter SDK with your consumer key and secret in didFinishLaunchingWithOptions. Missing this can break the entire login flow:
- (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions {
    // Replace with your actual consumer key and secret
    [[Twitter sharedInstance] startWithConsumerKey:@"YOUR_CONSUMER_KEY" consumerSecret:@"YOUR_CONSUMER_SECRET"];
    return YES;
}
  1. Check URL Schemes in Info.plist
    TwitterKit requires a custom URL scheme to handle the login callback after Web authentication. Add this to your Info.plist (replace <YOUR_CONSUMER_KEY> with your actual key):
<key>CFBundleURLTypes</key>
<array>
    <dict>
        <key>CFBundleURLSchemes</key>
        <array>
            <string>twitterkit-<YOUR_CONSUMER_KEY></string>
        </array>
    </dict>
</array>

Without this scheme, the Web login flow can't redirect back to your app, so the SDK might fail silently and trigger the error alert.

  1. Force Web Login Method
    By default, TwitterKit tries to use the native Twitter app first, but if it's not installed, it should fall back to Web login. Sometimes this fallback doesn't work as expected—you can explicitly force Web login using logInWithMethods: instead of logInWithCompletion::
[[Twitter sharedInstance] logInWithMethods:TWTRLoginMethodWeb basedOnInitialLogin:NO completion:^(TWTRSession *session, NSError *error) {
    if (session) {
        TWTRComposerViewController *composer = [TWTRComposerViewController emptyComposer];
        [fromController presentViewController:composer animated:YES completion:nil];
    } else {
        // Handle real errors here (e.g., network issues) instead of showing a generic alert
        UIAlertController *alert = [UIAlertController alertControllerWithTitle:@"Login Failed" message:error.localizedDescription preferredStyle:UIAlertControllerStyleAlert];
        [alert addAction:[UIAlertAction actionWithTitle:@"OK" style:UIAlertActionStyleDefault handler:nil]];
        [self presentViewController:alert animated:YES completion:nil];
    }
}];

This ensures the SDK uses the WebView login flow regardless of whether the native app is installed.

  1. Validate LSApplicationQueriesSchemes
    To let your app detect if the Twitter app is installed, add these entries to Info.plist:
<key>LSApplicationQueriesSchemes</key>
<array>
    <string>twitter</string>
    <string>twitterauth</string>
</array>

Without these, the SDK can't properly check for the native app's presence, which might interfere with the fallback logic.

  1. Update TwitterKit to the Latest Version
    Older versions of TwitterKit might have bugs in the fallback login flow. If you're using CocoaPods, run pod update TwitterKit to get the latest stable release.
