RubyMine中IdeaVim插件^L快捷键功能查询及冲突疑问

Mapping ^L to "Next Splitter" in RubyMine (IdeaVim) - Conflict & Fix

I'm switching from Vim to RubyMine with the IdeaVim plugin, and ran into a frustrating issue: I tried mapping ^L (Ctrl+L) to the "Next Splitter" action, but it didn't work at all. Instead, pressing ^L would cycle through my recent files until it opened the project README.

I used the "Find shortcut" feature to check if this key combination was mapped elsewhere, but it only showed my own custom "Goto Next Splitter" setting. Even after deleting that setting, the weird behavior persisted. For context, this is a fresh RubyMine installation on macOS—no imported settings, and my .ideavimrc was completely empty initially.

Update: Resolved the Conflict

Shoutout to @Feedforward for pointing me in the right direction! This turned out to be a shortcut conflict with IdeaVim. I didn't notice before, but when adding ^L to the IDE's shortcut mappings, the Preferences -> Editor -> Vim Emulation panel shows conflicting shortcuts from IdeaVim.

There are two ways to fix this:

  • Option 1: In the "Vim Emulation" settings, set the Handler for ^L to IDE. This lets the IDE's shortcut take priority over IdeaVim's default behavior.
  • Option 2: Remove the IDE's shortcut setting entirely, and add these mappings directly to your .ideavimrc instead:
    nmap <C-l> :action NextSplitter<CR>
    nmap <C-h> :action PrevSplitter<CR>

Remaining Question

I still have one lingering question: How can I look up what the default function of ^L is within IdeaVim?
