Over the past few days, I've run into a major issue with PayPal's Adaptive Payments features—specifically preapproval and chained payments. When sending users to PayPal to finish a chained payment order or authorize a preapproval, they're getting a generic "invalid transaction" error every time.

I tested this flow in my staging environment as well, and the same error pops up. Checking the browser console shows this error in the checkout.js file within the PayPal object directory:

Uncaught TypeError: PAYPAL.AP.Subflow is not a constructor at checkout.js:11 (anonymous) @ checkout.js:11

It seems like this is likely an issue originating from PayPal's end, not something wrong with my implementation.

I’m hoping to get some feedback from the community:

• Have other developers encountered this exact problem recently?
• Are there any temporary workarounds I can use to keep my payment flow running while PayPal fixes this?
