无Google+显式引用的GAS项目是否受其API关停影响?

Fixing False Positive Google+ API Shutdown Warnings for GAS Projects

The Problem

I received a critical warning from Google stating my Google App Script (GAS) project My_GAS_Project_Name would be impacted by the 2019 Google+ API/Sign-in shutdown (Jan 28–Mar 7), citing detected use of the plus.me OAuth scope. But I knew my project didn’t interact with Google+ at all.

How I Troubleshooted

I went through these steps to rule out obvious causes:

  • Code Search: Scanned every line of my GAS code for any "plus" references—found none. All "+" characters were just for string concatenation.
  • API Permissions Check: Confirmed my GAS project only had the OAuth library enabled; Google+ and People APIs were not turned on.
  • Invocation Flow Review: My project is only called via the Google App Script Execution API from a Java application.

The Hidden Root Cause

The issue wasn’t in the GAS code itself—it was in the Java program that invokes it. The Java code was using the deprecated userinfo.email OAuth scope, which Google implicitly maps to plus.me behind the scenes. This association triggered the warning, even though my GAS never actually requests or uses plus.me.

The Resolution

After contacting Google support, they confirmed this was a false positive. No changes were needed to either the GAS project or the Java caller. The warning was a mistake caused by the deprecated scope’s automatic link to Google+.
