Ruby项目NoMethodError报错：nil调用strftime方法问题排查

错误原因 #

你遇到的NoMethodError是因为**due_by字段的值为nil**，当你在date_format方法中调用due_by.strftime(...)时，实际上是在给nil对象调用方法，而nil并没有strftime方法，所以抛出错误。

具体触发场景：

• 数据库中存在due_by为NULL的Task记录
• 创建任务时没有传入due_by参数（你的post '/tasks'接口没有强制要求该参数）

解决方案 #

1. 给模型方法添加空值处理 #

修改Task模型的date_format方法，使用Ruby的**安全导航操作符&.**避免空值调用，同时可以设置默认文本：

class Task < ActiveRecord::Base 
    belongs_to :category 

    def date_format
        # 如果due_by不为nil则格式化，否则返回默认文本
        due_by&.strftime("%a, %b %-d %Y") || "无截止日期"
    end
end

安全导航操作符&.会在对象为nil时直接返回nil，不会继续调用后续方法，避免抛出错误。

2. 可选：强制任务必须有截止日期（业务需求） #

如果你的业务逻辑要求任务必须设置截止日期，可以给Task模型添加验证，防止创建due_by为空的任务：

class Task < ActiveRecord::Base 
    belongs_to :category 
    # 添加验证：due_by不能为空
    validates :due_by, presence: true

    def date_format
        due_by.strftime("%a, %b %-d %Y")
    end
end

此时创建任务时如果没有传入due_by，会触发验证失败，不会生成无效记录。

3. 可选：优化控制器的错误反馈 #

在创建任务的接口中，检查任务是否创建成功，返回明确的错误信息：
