Helm CLI使用--set时对逗号错误拆分导致值被截断的问题求助
This is a super common gotcha with Helm's --set flag—Helm interprets commas as separators between multiple key-value pairs, so when you run:
helm install your-chart . --set connString=service_name:8080,password=xxxxx=,abortConnect=False
Helm actually splits this into three separate assignments:
connString=service_name:8080password=xxxxx=abortConnect=False
That's exactly why only the first part ends up in your connString value. Here are three reliable ways to fix this:
1. Escape commas with backslashes
Add a backslash before each comma in your value to tell Helm it's part of the string, not a separator:
helm install your-chart . --set connString=service_name:8080\,password=xxxxx=\,abortConnect=False
2. Wrap the value in single quotes (shell-friendly)
Use single quotes around the entire value to prevent your shell from parsing the commas, and Helm will receive the full string as-is:
helm install your-chart . --set connString='service_name:8080,password=xxxxx=,abortConnect=False'
This works great in bash/zsh—single quotes preserve all characters inside them, including commas and equals signs.
3. Use --set-string for explicit string values
If you want to ensure Helm treats the value as a string (and doesn't try to parse it as a boolean or number), combine quotes with --set-string:
helm install your-chart . --set-string connString='service_name:8080,password=xxxxx=,abortConnect=False'
After using any of these methods, your template's {{ .Values.connString }} will render the full connection string instead of just the first segment.
