Android应用中使用PROCESS_TEXT动作创建带图标跨应用文本选择菜单及图标不显示问题排查

I’ve run into this exact issue before! The problem is that PROCESS_TEXT action icons aren’t controlled by the Activity’s android:icon attribute—you need to add a specific <meta-data> tag inside your intent filter to define the icon that shows up in the text selection menu.

Here’s the corrected manifest configuration that should make your icon appear:

<activity
    android:name=".UppercaseActivity"
    android:label="To Upper"
    android:exported="true"
    android:launchMode="singleTop" >
    <intent-filter>
        <action android:name="android.intent.action.PROCESS_TEXT" />
        <category android:name="android.intent.category.DEFAULT" />
        <data android:mimeType="text/plain" />
        <!-- Add this meta-data tag to specify the menu icon -->
        <meta-data
            android:name="android.intent.extra.PROCESS_TEXT_ICON"
            android:resource="@drawable/icon" />
    </intent-filter>
</activity>

Key Notes to Ensure It Works: #

• Icon Resource Requirements: Make sure your icon drawable exists in all appropriate density folders (drawable-mdpi, drawable-hdpi, etc.) with the correct sizes (typically 24x24dp for text selection menu icons). Using a vector drawable is also fine, just ensure it’s compatible with your target API level.
• Clear App Cache: Sometimes Android caches old manifest configurations. Go to your app’s settings, clear the cache (and optionally data), then restart the app. You might also need to restart the app where you’re testing the text selection menu.
• Check for Typos: Double-check that the android:resource value matches your drawable’s exact name (case-sensitive!) and that the drawable file isn’t corrupted.
• Android Version Compatibility: PROCESS_TEXT was introduced in API 23 (Android 6.0), so this solution works for all devices running Android 6.0 and above—no extra steps needed for newer versions.

If you follow these steps, your icon should now show up alongside the "To Upper" option in the text selection menu of other apps.
