Windows分层存储池指定文件夹存储层的技术问询

Hey David, great question—this is totally achievable with Windows' built-in Storage Spaces cmdlets! The GUI doesn’t give you a direct way to lock a folder to a specific tier, but PowerShell lets you do this easily. Here’s how to get it done:

  • First, fire up PowerShell as Administrator (you’ll need elevated permissions to make these changes).
  • Run this command to list all storage tiers in your pool and find the HDD tier’s unique ID:
    Get-StorageTier

Look for the entry where MediaType is HDD, and copy its UniqueID value (it’ll look like a long string of letters and numbers).
  • Next, run this command to lock the G:\backup folder (and all its contents) to the HDD tier:
    Set-FileStorageTier -Path "G:\backup" -StorageTierUniqueID <PASTE_YOUR_HDD_TIER_ID_HERE> -Recurse

The -Recurse flag ensures all existing files in the folder get moved to the HDD tier, not just the folder itself.
  • To make sure any new files added to G:\backup automatically use the HDD tier, you can also set a persistent association:
    Set-StorageTierAssociation -Path "G:\backup" -StorageTierUniqueID <PASTE_YOUR_HDD_TIER_ID_HERE>

Once you run these commands, your backup folder will stay strictly on the HDD tier—no files will get moved to the SSD tier automatically, even if Windows’ tiering logic would normally shift them over. Just double-check that you copied the correct HDD tier ID from the first command, and you’re good to go!
