Windows搜索结果中重命名文件夹时异常生成desktop.ini的问题求助
Hi everyone,
I've run into a super frustrating issue and I'm hoping someone can shed some light on it. Let me break down what's happening:
The weird behavior: When I rename a folder directly from a Windows Search results window, instead of actually renaming the folder's real filename, Windows creates a
desktop.inifile inside the folder and adds aLocalizedResourceNamevariable with the new name I entered. This leads to a total mismatch between the folder's actual name and what shows up in File Explorer. My failed troubleshooting attempts: I spent hours tonight trying to fix this. First, I tried recursively deleting all those
desktop.inifiles in the target folder, but nothing worked. I used PowerShell commands, tried tools like Unlocker and LockHunter, even randel /f /sin Command Prompt—every single attempt failed because Windows is protecting these system files like they're untouchable.Past context that might be relevant: A while back, on the same Windows 10 machine, I messed around with Windows Search settings trying to fix other issues. I moved the index files and tweaked permissions, but that didn't solve anything back then either. Could this current problem be linked to those earlier changes? I can't see why, but I'm grasping at straws here.
I have so many questions:
- Is this a known bug? Or is it just some weird localized Windows issue (since I'm not sure if this happens on all versions)?
- Why can't I find more people complaining about this? Am I the only one dealing with this, or is there something specific wrong with my machine? If it's the latter, how do I even troubleshoot it?
- Most importantly: Is there a way to make Windows Explorer actually rename the folder's real name instead of messing with
desktop.ini?
This has driven me absolutely crazy—any help or insights would be massively appreciated.
